Cheatham County Wildlife Area
Just a 500 yard walk from the house, the Cheatham WMA is approximately 20,810 acres and consists of primarily upland hardwood forests with some pine stands present.
There are also open fields, scrub shrubs, and food plots where wildlife may congregate. Due north you will find the Cheatham County Lake. Miles of gates roads and ATV trails are excellent hiking trails and are available in many places off the main gravel roads that snake through the WMA.
Spring and fall passerine migration can be fantastic, with many warblers, vireos, and tanagers present. Blackburnian Warbler and Bay-breasted Warbler are possible migrants in spring, while Prairie Warbler and Yellow-breasted Chat nest on site. Cerulean Warblers are uncommon nesting birds. Deer and Wild turkeys are commonly seen on roadsides and in fields year-round.
